Optimizing freight transport with autonomous trucks and reliable connectivity

About the project

A technology company specializing in autonomous transportation systems was tasked with expanding its project for autonomous freight transport on highways.

The main objective was to enhance delivery speed for one of Europe’s largest retail chains. To achieve this, a transfer system was implemented at key points along the main route, allowing goods to be switched from traditional trucks to autonomous ones.

The company needed to ensure reliable data transmission with minimal latency between the office, the truck, and its components, including navigation modules, cameras, sensors, radars, lidars, and the GNSS antenna.

Results

  1. 01

End-to-end encryption was successfully implemented, ensuring seamless data exchange between the truck, its components, and the company’s central office.

  2. 02

Stable internet connectivity was provided for real-time logging and monitoring of truck movements along the route.

  3. 03

Local and remote management of the trucks was established, improving dispatcher efficiency and reducing the likelihood of operational errors.

  4. 04

Continuous monitoring of the trucks and their components was set up to minimize downtime in case of technical failures or system malfunctions.

The RM45x4 LTE CAT.6 router delivered a reliable and scalable communication system between the autonomous trucks and the company’s central office. This solution improved transport efficiency and reduced the risk of errors.
